Audi werkt aan een compleet nieuwe A7 Sportback, waarvan een gecamoufleerd testexemplaar op deze beelden te zien is.
In 2014 lanceerde Audi de Prologue Concept, een studiemodel dat later bijval kreeg van de Prologue Avant en Prologue Allroad concept-cars. Het zijn designelementen van de eerste die ogenschijnlijk hun weg naar de splinternieuwe Audi A7 weten te vinden.

Dat blijkt uit de foto's van dit nog fanatiek ingepakte exemplaar. In grote lijnen lijkt de A7 een evolutie te zijn van de huidige, al lijken front - met zijn enorme grille - en kont tot op zekere hoogte geïnspireerd op de reeds genoemde Prologue Concept. De nieuwe A7 krijgt een slankere koets mee dan de huidige en de kenmerkende achterzijde lijkt minder schuin te zijn getekend.

Opvallend is overigens het ontbreken van een goed zichtbare uitlaatpijp. De huidige A7 is ook in combinatie met de basismotor - een 190 pk sterke 1.8 TFSI - voorzien van duidelijke aanwezige uitlaateindstukken. Het ontbreken van de zichbare uitlaten op dit testmodel zou kunnen betekenen dat Audi óf een elektrische versie, óf zelfs een waterstofvariant op de planning heeft staan. Dat laatste lijkt zeker een mogelijkheid, gezien Audi in 2014 de A7 h-tron aan de wereld toonde, een conceptuele A7 die voorzien was van een brandstofcel.

Het zal nog even duren voor de nieuwe A7 officieel wordt onthuld. Eerst brengt Audi een nieuwe A8 op de markt. Die verwachten we volgend jaar. De nieuwe A7 wordt voor de komst van de nieuwe A6 op de markt verwacht.
