Het toerisme in Parijs en omstreken heeft de eerste helft van dit jaar ongekend harde klappen gekregen.
Het Île-de-France ontving tussen januari en juli een miljoen minder buitenlandse bezoekers dan vorig jaar in dezelfde tijdsspanne, melden Franse media op gezag van het regionale toerismebureau (CRT). Het CRT wijt de neergang aan de terroristische aanslagen en de stakingen van afgelopen jaar.

Vooral de Japanners lieten het afweten. Het aantal Japanners dat een hotelkamer in Parijs reserveerde liep met bijna de helft terug.

Ook Italianen en Russen, die doorgaans in groten getale de Franse hoofdstad bezoeken, blijven weg. De strop voor de toerismesector beloopt volgens het CRT een slordige 750 miljoen euro.

De daling van het aantal Nederlandse toeristen dat in de eerste helft van dit jaar de Franse hoofdstedelijke regio aandeed bedroeg 16.000, aldus het CRT. Het wegblijven van de Nederlanders betekent een strop van 6,5 miljoen euro, berekende het toerismebureau.

Hoeveel toeristen uit ons land er precies naar Parijs gingen, meldt het CRT overigens niet. Het eerste halfjaar van 2015 was met een min van 7,2 procent ten opzichte van het jaar ervoor ook al geen goed semester wat betreft Nederlanders.

Enige troost voor Parijs: de Fransen zelf komen er nog altijd graag. Parijs zou onder 's werelds grote steden nog wel altijd de grootste publiekstrekker zijn.
