Systeem Audi weet wanneer stoplichten groen worden
Audi komt met een systeem waarbij auto's communiceren met stoplichten, en aan de chauffeur laten weten wanneer een stoplicht op groen springt.
Het zogenoemde 'vehicle-to-infrastructure'-systeem wordt in eerste instantie in enkele Amerikaanse steden uitgerold, meldt Audi.

Niet alleen moeten auto's geschikt zijn voor het systeem, ook de stoplichten in steden moeten zijn ontwikkeld voor het systeem. De Duitse autofabrikant bouwt het systeem in Audi Q7 uit 2017 en Audi A4-modellen die sinds half 2016 verschijnen.

Audi is het eerste automerk ter wereld dat het systeem voor consumenten beschikbaar stelt. Veel automakers werken aan een vergelijkbaar systeem, dat zowel voor een betere doorstroom van het verkeer als voor een afname in ongelukken moet zorgen.

Chauffeurs die het systeem van Audi gebruiken krijgen enkele seconden voordat een stoplicht op groen springt een aftellende klok te zien. Daardoor kunnen chauffeurs zich volgens Audi beter voorbereiden op wanneer zij gaan optrekken, en hoe de verkeerssituatie is.
